Did Your Dog Pee on the Carpet? Here's How to Get it Out

Posted by Nick Quaglia on

Oops. Your dog just peed on the carpet. It happens to the best of us, so don't be too upset!

But because this happened, you need to clean it up the best way you can so your carpet doesn't become a stained disaster and so the smell of pee doesn't haunt your living room. And here's an awesome way to deal with this difficult situation.

Step Number 1: Soak Up the Mess

Step number one is absolutely crucial. The first thing you want to do if your dog pees is soak it up using a paper towel, or anything that would do the trick. The easiest way to do this is probably taking a good amount of paper towels, and putting pressure on them to soak the mess up. Standing on the paper towels really helps the cause.

Step Number 2: Sprinkle Baking Soda On the Pee Spot

Baking soda is an absolute life saver here. Next, you want to sprinkle some of this on the area in order to soak up the smell. Sprinkle a thin layer evenly across the effected area, and let it sit as it soaks up the excess.

Step Number 3: Spray the Area With Equal Parts Water and Vinegar

Here, you'll want to combine one cup of white distilled vinegar and two cups of water. Spray the area with a light coating, then let it dry.

Step Number 4: Vacuum

And here comes the easiest part. Once the spot has dried out, run the vacuum over it.

In following these steps, you could save your carpet from potential, longer lasting damage. Especially if you might have an elderly dog who struggles to hold in their pee as they age. We really hope this helps you in this situation that, if you're a dog owner, will come up at some point during your pup's wonderful lifetime.
